Ali studied at Wellesley College and studied art history. After graduation, she began working on fashion magazines. The model career began as a result of her love for fashion photography. This was a career that she pursued until the year 1968 her husband Steve McQueen's marriage, she embarked on a film career late. Despite this, she made some films that have been largely a success.
