She's reported on sports at some of the most prestigious media outlets across the world. The last decade was spent working for The Washington Post covering football, basketball, multiple Olympics as well as Grand Slam Tennis. In 2004 Nichols was transferred to ESPN for nine years where she won 2 Emmy Awards and appeared on many of the network's most popular shows, such as SportsCenter and NFL Countdown. She also served as an on-line reporter for Monday Night Football broadcasts. Her next move was to CNN and Turner Sports. The first show she created and hosted was named self-titled Unguarded featuring Rachel Nichols, and aired weekly on CNN as well as CNN International. A billion viewers viewed the program across the world. Nichols worked for TNT as a reporter, reporting on NBA games, including playoffs, regular season and All Star broadcasts. Nichols also reported on golf, baseball as well as Final Four broadcasts for CBS and TBS. Only the second woman has been chosen from more than two hundred nominees in the history of 42 years for the honor.
